Who am I?
My name is Jamie Berry and I am a gigging musician from Carterton, Oxfordshire who writes original material. I have performed at many venues around Oxford: The Bullingdon, Port Mahon, The Jericho Tavern, O2 Academy (The Zodiac) and many more. Most notably I am a member of the band The Kokoachez, which has been featured multiple times on BBC Introducing and many other local radio stations.
My Story
I first picked up a guitar at about the age of 8, granted I was never motivated to keep playing as I was probably busy playing Mario on the Wii instead. Although when I did play I seemed to progress relatively quickly as I learnt rhythm guitar for most of my favourite songs and soon after formed my band with bassist Jim. When people say they listen to every genre of music, they usually just mean they listen to rap and some Beatles although I actually think I cover most bases. This ranges from the likes of Radiohead to Lamb of God and Dream Theatre to Kendrick Lemar and Denzel Curry to Thundercat to Aretha Franklin. When you listen to The Kokroachez you will hear a wide range of genres. This is mainly because I write songs which are similar to those that I am listening to at the time, it is just what comes out naturally. With this being said, many people have said that they would class our music as Alternative Rock.
